Eric Demetriou

Eric Demetriou is an artist whose work incites a thrill-seeking experience flirting with trouble, danger and pleasure through outcomes of kinetic sound-based sculpture and performance.

Compiling a body of work that investigates the application of noise, partnered with a mischievous demeanor, his research focuses on connotations of noise being an undesired excess material, with a political economy that anticipates a reception of hostility.

Eric Demetriou was the winner of the 2014 Linden Art Prize and has shown at galleries around Australia, including Federation Square, Linden Centre for Contemporary ArtsWest Space,Contemporary Art Space Tasmania (CAST), Sawtooth ARI, Bus ProjectsBlindsideGertrude Contemporary, and The Substation. As a performer, he has performed in venues and events such as The MCA Art Bar, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA), Melbourne Art CentreThe Avoca ProjectWest SpaceThe International Noise ConferenceBoogie Festival, and The University of Melbourne Car-Park.
